About me

My name is Boris Wiegand and I am a former PhD student supervised by Jilles Vreeken and Dietrich Klakow at Saarland University. As a Data Scientist at SHS – Stahl Holding Saar, I pursued to combine the best of research and industrial application. In my research, I was working on knowledge extraction from event logs, e.g., developing methods to mine understandable models from complex event data. Application fields of my research include initial understanding of the control-flow in manufacturing and business processes, anomaly detection and bottleneck analysis.

Currently, I am working as an engineer at the steel producer Dillinger. My favorite project is a digital twin of our production logistics. Here, I use tools like waiting queue simulation, but also provide valuable process insight through dashboards and data analysis.

Whenever I am not working, you will most probably find me at a pool table.
